Share a Heart, Send a Blessing - A Community Outreach Recap from Harvest Chinese Christian Church of Orlando
On September 19, 2026, brothers and sisters from Harvest Chinese Christian Church of Orlando, together with our youth and children, participated in a local outdoor community event in the Orlando area. We hosted an interactive outreach booth called “Share a Heart, Send a Blessing,” where we shared compassion, prayer, and the hope we have in Christ with members of the community.
Visitors to the booth were invited to take a red heart sticker, think of someone they cared about or a group of people going through hardship, and place the heart inside the large heart displayed on our board. Our youth and children also took an active role by handing out heart stickers, explaining the purpose of the activity, and inviting people passing by to add a heart and share a blessing.
These hearts were especially dedicated to house churches in China, as well as to pastors and fellow believers who face pressure and persecution because they remain faithful to Christ. We also remembered those who have been imprisoned for their faith, separated from their families, or called to follow the Lord faithfully through difficult circumstances.
Scripture teaches us:
“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.”—Hebrews 13:3 (ESV)
The event also took place during the Mid-Autumn Festival, a season traditionally associated with family reunion and remembering loved ones. Yet for some pastors and believers in China’s house churches who are facing persecution, being reunited with family cannot be taken for granted. Many others are also unable to return home because of distance, illness, natural disasters, or other difficult circumstances. Through these hearts, we remembered them and stood in solidarity with suffering members of the Body of Christ.
By the end of the event, approximately one hundred heart stickers had been collected. Behind every heart was someone’s concern, a word of blessing, or a quiet prayer. As adults, children, and families continued to participate, the once-empty display gradually filled until it became one large heart created by the entire community.
We recognize that a heart sticker cannot change someone’s circumstances, nor is it a religious ritual with any special power. The Christian’s true hope is not found in a sticker or an activity, but in Jesus Christ, who died for sinners and rose from the dead. Placing a heart on the board was a public expression of our desire to remember those who suffer, pray for them, bear their burdens, and take practical action whenever God gives us the opportunity.
As Scripture says:
“Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”—1 John 3:18 (ESV)
The purpose of this outreach was not simply to complete a heart-shaped display. It was an invitation for members of the Orlando community to pause in the midst of their busy lives and notice those who are often overlooked. Through this simple activity, we hoped that more people would remember the persecuted church, care for families who cannot be together, and express love through prayer, presence, and practical acts of compassion.
One heart, one expression of care;
one remembrance, one step of walking together.
May these gathered hearts remind us that when one member of the Body of Christ suffers, the whole body suffers together. When someone around us is lonely, weak, or facing hardship, may we not turn away, but instead bear one another’s burdens and support one another with the love of Christ.
